Forum: faqs Subject: License options in the new uploader

Hello, I just noticed that the new uploader at https://archive.org/upload/ defaults to CC-BY-ND (Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivs). You then have three options to:
1) allow remix (remove -ND),
2) prohibit commercial reuse (add -NC),
3) require share alike [only after (1) is selected] (add -SA).
What's the rationale for having -ND as default? It also make it unnecessarily complex to choose -SA, as one has to know that it requires -ND to be removed: the interface gives no clue about it and at any rate it makes it twice as expensive in terms of clicks than adding -NC.

I suggest to default to CC-BY, so that we get a free license and the -SA checkbox is available without further clicks.
